FP試験までもういくつ寝ると…だが、
今朝も6:30から早朝レッスン!

【t sound】

★t はそのポジションによって発音が異なる。

1.sometimes t sound more like a d (as in weather and atom)

2.sometimes it is not pronounced at all (as in often and interview)

3.it’s bareley pronounced in but and car

4.it can change to a different sound when it is followed by an r sound, as in try or truth

● The held t
・This is what we call a fully pronounced t.
  - cut, Robert, state, out
  - it was, can’t go, didn’t like, eight weeks
  - football, lately, atlas, butler

● Held t before n sound
・ Make sure you hold the t.
  - buttton : but + n
  - certan, gotten, lighten, Britain, written

Silent t After n
・ The t after an n is often silent in American peonounciation.
  - internet : innernet
  - interview : inerview
  - international : inernational

When t is Between two Vowel
・ Becomes a fast/d/
・ It also sounds the same as the ‘rolling r’.
  - better : bedder
  - little : liddle
  - party : pardy
  × attak : adack → tt has stress

● When t is Between two words
・ Becomes a fast /d/
  - it is  - get up  - eat out  -try it on

● The ‘Fast d’ sound or ‘nomal d’ sound
・ adopt (nomal d) – addict (fast d)
・ adore (nomal d) – audit (fast d)

● The tr sound
・ Followed by an r sound → becomes an almost ‘ch’ sound.
  - travel, turkey, translate, extremely, interst

● The dr sound
・ Followed by an r sound → becomes an almost '…’ sound.
  - drink, drop, dream, laundly

【今日の早口言葉】

Betty Botter bought a bit of butter.
The butter Betty Botter bought was a bit bitter.
And made her batter bitter.
But a bit of better butter.
Makes better batter.
So Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter.
Making Betty Botter’s bitter batter better.

うーん、ネイティブの言葉を聞き取りづらい原因、これだなー…。
こんなに発音が変化するとなると。。。
